Festive Fragrance for Your Home !

With the festive season upon us, many people will be thinking about creating a warm and cosy atmosphere at home. With friends and family coming to stay and the increased possibility of surprise visitors, keeping a relaxed and welcoming home is important. One of the best ways to create a homely feel is by making sure your house smells clean and fragrant. One of the most effective and economical ways to do this is by using essential oils, and the huge variety available will ensure that there is something for everybody. Depending on your taste you may wish to opt for a sweet aroma, or perhaps something spicy or musky. Combining different essential oils can also create wonderful combinations of scent, and purchasing a few complementary oils will give you a number of different aromas that you can change as the mood takes you!

essential oils are widely available at most good chemists, although there may be a relatively limited selection. For a larger range and choice, specialist shops will stock more and online stores should have a huge variety. It may be cheaper to purchase oils online direct from suppliers, and there may also be offers available for buying in bulk or options for free delivery.

When selecting the oils for your home, it really is a matter of personal choice, although there are certain aromas that will always work well together. For a festive touch, scents such as cinnamon, nutmeg, frankincense or orange will always create a holiday atmosphere. For a more complex perfume, mixing a few of drops of two oils such as orange and cinnamon will create a more personalised touch.

Using essential oils to fragrance you home is a cost effective and versatile way of creating a homely atmosphere. You will only need a couple of drops of oil to release a gentle scent when heated, allowing a small bottle to last all the way through the Christmas season and beyond. The scents that warmed your festive celebrations can continue to relax and comfort you during the cold January evenings!

The way in which you decide to fragrance your home is again, a matter of personal preference. Some people may choose to heat their chosen essential oils by using a candle, in an oil burner. These are available in a huge variety of designs, and finding one to fit any colour or decorative scheme should be easy. They are also relatively inexpensive, and will add the touch of a flickering candle to the atmosphere you are creating. Some people may prefer to hide away their oils using a light bulb ring, which fits around the base of a bulb inside most lamps. As the bulb becomes warmer it will gently heat the oil and release its' fragrance. Another option is the electric vaporiser, this is a shaped ceramic stone which plugs in (so no naked flame) and gently warms to heat the drops of oils. This may be useful for people with young children, who would prefer not to use candles. Whichever oils and methods you choose, have fun creating your own cosy winter wonderland!
